Overview

A rare Planning Approval was granted under Perth & Kinross Council’s Sustainable Living policies, with a detailed land management scheme included as part of the overall design. Results of energy monitoring of the house will be provided to the Council on an annual basis.

The design suits the clients needs, with open plan family living spaces, with more private snug areas. Large windows capture the views to Schiehallion, with energy modelling used to ensure the heat loss from these north facing windows was compensated for.

The New England style of the house was driven by the clients, finished in horizontal board cladding with white window surrounds and a timber balcony serving the master suite.

Two natural stone gables were formed from redundant stone walls on site and create an impressive front elevation and entrance area.

The design makes best use of the all-important views, including from the bath of the master-suite and corner glazing in the living room.

Super insulated to the Passivhaus Standard, the house uses photovoltaic panles to generate power, supplementing the heat pump. Whole house Heat Recovery Ventilation is also installed.
